Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It’s free, fun and informative. It’s summer in New York City in the Park. Come join us!
This coming Tuesday, August 6, 2013, I will speak in New York City’s famous Bryant Park (just behind the 42nd Street New York Public Library Lions) as part of the HSBC-sponsored summer series of author interviews, The Reading Room in Bryant Park.
First established in 1935 by the New York Public Library, the Reading Room in Bryant Park was a refuge for the thousands of unemployed New Yorkers during the Great Depression. The Library offered magazines and books and speakers and chairs to sit in. After 1944, this “first” Reading Room closed and then reopened in 2003 for a new and more affluent generation of readers. The Bryant Park Reading Room is now a popular summer tradition in the park, and an important author destination.
At noon on August 6, Tuesday, I will interview Bob Rice, author of
Bob Rice is Bloomberg’s Alternative Investments Editor and founder of Tangent Capital. Rice will argue that “it’s time for average investors to abandon the classic 60/40 stock bond mix, which has produced zero returns — and frequently large losses — in the majority of decades since 1900, and adopt a fundamentally different mindset… He will describe alternative investments that can: safely increase current income, diversify and thus limit investment risk; generate big long term gains; and protect against inflation and currency devaluation.”
I will ask questions you’d expect from a Buffett acolyte.
After the discussion, Bob and I will sign our books. Rain? Don’t worry. You’ll sit in a tent.
Please RSVP to this message if you think you can come. It would we great to see you.
